Benfica ‘to present’ new contract offer to Andreas Schjelderup | OneFootball

SIC Notícias reports that Benfica are preparing to present a new contract offer to Andreas Schjelderup after a previous proposal went unanswered.

The winger has two years left on his deal. Figures for the new proposal are not known, and it is expected to include more attractive terms for one of Marco Silva's key players.

Schjelderup is understood to feel he has not been properly valued by Benfica, despite his improvement in the second half of last season under José Mourinho.

The stand-off is not thought to be primarily financial. Benfica's end-of-season proposal was worth up to €18 million gross across five years.

His representatives let the deadline lapse and did not plan to respond in the coming months. Even so, president Rui Costa is prepared to keep the Norway international at Benfica by tabling a fresh offer.
