Benfica are preparing to renew the contracts of Anatoliy Trubin and Samuel Soares, marking a turnaround in the Ukrainian’s case, according to SIC.

Trubin had made clear his dissatisfaction with his current status, and he was linked with a departure for much of the window.

The club explored solutions but no offers arrived, which may have prompted a shift in strategy.

After three seasons as undisputed No 1, the landscape changed under Marco Silva. Samuel Soares has recently taken the starting role, pushing Trubin down the pecking order.

Despite that, Benfica now aim to keep Trubin and prepare a renewal. He has a release clause of 100 million euros.

The hierarchy also intend to extend Soares’s deal, with both goalkeepers contracted until 2028.
