Henrique Araújo, Benfica B’s all-time leading scorer, is preparing to leave Benfica in the summer window as he enters the final year of his deal.
The 24-year-old has had limited opportunities under José Mourinho, featuring in only five league matches for a total of 48 minutes. A BOLA reports that Benfica plan to sanction his exit while retaining a percentage of his rights or any future profit.
Araújo joined from Marítimo in 2018 and had loans at Watford and Famalicão before regaining some prominence with Arouca. Even so, he has not established himself in the first team.
There are offers on the table from Portugal and abroad, and the direction of travel appears set. In winter he chose to play for the B team, and both player and club want to avoid a repeat of that scenario.
They are seeking a solution that suits all parties before he could leave for nothing in 2027.
