Yves Bissouma has been linked with Benfica, but the club are not pursuing a deal. Record writes that the 29-year-old is not in the board led by Rui Costa’s plans this summer, with Benfica working on other midfield options.

Bissouma is a free agent after leaving Tottenham, departing after four seasons in London without renewing his contract.

Last season he shared a dressing room with João Palhinha before both left Tottenham. The midfielder continues to attract interest from several clubs, including Fulham, Marco Silva’s former side. Before Spurs, he played for Brighton after emerging at Lille.

Benfica remain in the market for a midfielder, though reinforcing the defence is, for now, the main priority.

João Palhinha remains Marco Silva’s preferred option for midfield, but that move has suffered a major setback. Aston Villa have reached agreement with Bayern Munich to sign the Portugal international on loan with an option to buy.

Benfica are expected to accelerate their search for alternatives in the coming days to give Marco Silva another midfield option before the window closes.
