Trubin left in limbo as Juventus take Vicario on loan from Tottenham

Anatoliy Trubin is unhappy with a back-up role at Benfica, and a potential exit route has just closed after Juventus moved for Guglielmo Vicario.

According to Tuttosport, the goalkeeper joins from Tottenham on loan with a non-obligatory option to buy for 10.5 million euros. The deal solves Juventus’ search for a new number one and definitely takes Trubin off their list for the position.

Vicario, 29, returns to Italian football after three seasons in London, a spell that brought 117 Tottenham appearances and the Europa League in 2025.

The Ukraine international had been among Juventus targets for the role, but he has slipped down the pecking order at Benfica at the start of the season. Samuel Soares has taken the starting spot, leaving Trubin in a delicate position under Marco Silva.

A switch to Turin might have provided a solution for his future, yet Vicario’s arrival closes that possibility. Benfica now face an increasingly awkward decision, with Trubin still in the squad, out of the first-choice role and with one of his main exit routes gone this window.
