Benfica weigh new left-back to challenge Dahl as Balde move unlikely | OneFootball

Benfica are keeping open the option of signing a new left-back to provide real competition for Samuel Dahl, with Alejandro Balde now viewed as unlikely.

Marco Silva’s squad is still taking shape, with Alessandro Circati already signed and João Palhinha virtually secured.

Sport reports that Benfica submitted an offer below €20m for Balde, while Record writes that the Spaniard is not currently in the club’s plans.

Barcelona’s demands make a deal prohibitive for Benfica, with the Catalan side seeking at least €40m for the 22-year-old.

Fabrizio Romano reports Manchester United have asked Barcelona for information on Balde’s situation, and Aston Villa are also monitoring. Benfica will keep scanning the market for a more affordable alternative to push Dahl.
