Benfica left-back Samuel Dahl has been drafted into Sweden’s squad on an emergency basis after an illness outbreak left Graham Potter’s side short. According to Glorioso 1904, he received a last-minute call for the double-header against Bosnia and Romania.

Sweden are without five players due to the outbreak, Yasin Ayari, Benjamin Nygren, Gustaf Lagerbielke, Elliot Stroud and Patrik Walemark. In response, Eric Smith, Felix Beijmo, Hugo Bolin and Ken Sema have also been called up. Dahl has two caps.

The first match is on Friday in Sarajevo against Bosnia. Sweden arrive with a perfect start after beating Romania 2-1 and Poland 3-1. They then travel to Bucharest to face Romania on Monday.

Sweden lead Group B4 with six points, Bosnia are second on four. Poland have one and Romania are yet to register. The Bosnia fixture is especially important in the push for direct promotion to League A.

The call offers Dahl another chance to strengthen his case with the national set-up. At Benfica, he could be overtaken by El Karouani for the starting role, but he returns to the Sweden squad.
