Sidny Lopes Cabral is set to leave Benfica for Trabzonspor, who will contest the Europa League play-off next season.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Cape Verde international is in Türkiye for medical tests and to sign a four-year contract, after Benfica and the Turkish club reached full agreement and the player accepted the terms.

Benfica signed Sidny from Estrela da Amadora in January for €6 million. He is poised to depart for €10 million, with a further €2 million dependent on objectives. Estrela retain 10 per cent of any capital gain on the transfer.

His impact at Benfica was limited. He featured in 12 official matches, producing one goal and three assists, and did not secure a regular starting place.

Andreas Schjelderup and Bruma are the leading options in the role. Schjelderup will be at the World Cup when Benfica begin pre-season on 25 June, while Bruma is coming off an injury-hit season, leaving uncertainty over his immediate readiness.

Strengthening the flanks is therefore a priority this summer. Benfica are targeting a player who prefers the left side or can operate on both wings.
