Benjamin Arthur joins Portsmouth on season-long loan after Celtic interest | OneFootball

Benjamin Arthur has joined Portsmouth on loan from Brentford for the 2026-27 season, continuing his development in the Championship.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, making six appearances in all competitions. According to Hounslow Herald, the Scottish champions sought a permanent deal this summer, which Brentford immediately rejected.

Arthur progressed through Brentford B after arriving in 2023, winning U21s Player of the Year and helping secure the U21 Professional Development League title. He was promoted to the first team in 2025 and signed a long-term contract until 2031 last summer.

He made his senior Brentford debut against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup last September, then added two further cup outings before joining Celtic in February.

Arthur is highly rated at Brentford and has been capped by England up to U20s level.
