Benjamin Stambouli has called time on his playing career at 36, setting his sights on life in the dugout.
According to L'Équipe, the former Metz midfielder has left the club and decided to end a career that took him through Ligue 1, the Premier League, the Bundesliga and Türkiye, with plans to pursue coaching.
He had spells at Montpellier, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain, and was twice a French champion, with Montpellier in 2012 and PSG in 2016.
Stambouli does not intend to stray far from the pitch, with the move into coaching having appealed to him for years.
His ambition is inspired by coaches in his family and by managers he encountered during his playing days.
