Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta offered his condolences to the families of Paolo Saibene and Josep Martinez.
Speaking to Sport Mediaset via FCInterNews, Marotta delivered the club’s stance on yesterday’s tragic event in Fenegro.
Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martinez is still in shock after being involved in a fatal car accident yesterday morning.
Indeed, the Spanish star hit an 81-year-old elderly person with his car on his way to training, resulting in the man’s death.
Despite Martinez’s best effort to help the victim, the man passed away on the scene.
Though the accident wasn’t Martinez’s fault, the 27-year-old remains deeply shaken and under close psychological surveillance.
Furthermore, this unfortunate event has affected the entire Inter Milan squad.
The atmosphere at Appiano Gentile has been grim in the build-up to Fiorentina’s visit to San Siro later this evening.
As for Martinez, he is unlikely to return to training before next week.

These are difficult times for everyone involved.
However, Beppe Marotta felt compelled to express the club’s support for both the victim’s family and their goalkeeper.
“Unfortunately, this is a serious and delicate matter,” Marotta said.
“Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased, and we are also close to our player, whom we know very well.
“These are tragedies that, unfortunately, are part of everyday life.
“I hope that some benefit can be drawn even from this tragic situation,” he concluded.
Martinez will stay out of the squad for the time being, with the club providing support to help him overcome the trauma of the tragic accident.
Indeed, the Spaniard needs the necessary psychological and emotional support from the club to cope with the situation.
