Bergson naturalises to play for Malaysia after seven seasons at Johor FC | OneFootball

Bergson has become a naturalised Malaysian, according to Globo.com, and can be called up by the national team. The 35-year-old striker is in his seventh season with Johor FC.

Last year he became the Malaysian league's all-time top scorer. This season he has five goals in five games and two assists. He has 207 goals for Johor FC.

Born in Alegrete on the western border of Rio Grande do Sul, he has lifted five Malaysian league titles and four Malaysia Cups, among other honours.

Initially on loan from Fortaleza, he was bought by Johor FC in May 2021 for 400,000 dollars, around R$ 2.2 million at the time.

A Grêmio youth product, he helped win the Campeonato Gaúcho in 2010, then had loans at Vila Nova, Ypiranga, Braga in Portugal, Juventude, Portuguesa and Chapecoense.

He later played for Busan Ipark in Japan, Náutico, Paysandu, Athletico, Ceará and Fortaleza. His honours also include the 2018 Copa Sudamericana and 2019 Campeonato Paranaense with Athletico, the 2017 Campeonato Paraense with Paysandu, and Ceará's Copa do Nordeste title in 2020.
