A new branch of the Manchester City family has taken root in the North Atlantic.

The Bermuda Official Supporters Club was formally established in May 2025, marking the start of a new chapter for City fans on the island, 3,000 miles from the Etihad.

For Chairman Youenn, the journey to founding the Bermuda branch began with an early love of football and an affinity for Manchester City that started in childhood.

“I have played football since I was four and would watch whatever matches were on television,” Youenn explains.

“I didn’t support a specific team at first, but I was drawn to City’s old badge and became a fan of players like David Silva and Sergio Agüero. At five years old, I became a City supporter and have been ever since.”

As his passion for the Club grew, so too did his ambition to experience it first-hand.

“I have travelled to the Etihad and Wembley to watch City play, and I hope to attend many more matches in the future,” he says.

Despite Bermuda’s modest size, with a population of approximately 60,000 and an area of just 53 square kilometres, the enthusiasm for Manchester City among local fans is significant.

“Before starting the branch, I would often go to the local pub to watch City matches with my dad,” recalls Youenn. “There were always a few other City fans there too.”

The idea to formalise that shared passion came naturally, especially given that City legend Shaun Goater hails from Bermuda.

Early in 2025, Youenn began organising informal meetings and outreach to fellow supporters.

The club launched a press release in the local media, created a bespoke logo and Facebook page, and began to attract attention from across the island.

“Eventually, we reached the required number of members to become an Official Supporters Club and held our first official outing to watch the FA Cup Final together at the pub,” he says.

Supporting the initiative alongside Youenn is General Secretary Darren, whose connection to City dates back to his childhood in North Manchester.

“I grew up in North Manchester, and as a child, I wasn’t particularly sporty,” Darren shares.

“Around the age of nine, my friend’s father invited me to watch City at Maine Road. I don’t remember much about the game itself, but I remember how exciting the day was, the journey into Manchester and the atmosphere at the ground.”

After moving to Bermuda at the age of 22, Darren rekindled his love for football through playing locally and following City from afar.

“That’s when I really fell in love with the game,” he reflects.

“Since then, I’ve travelled the world to watch football and visit Manchester two to four times a year to see City. I even made it to Istanbul, and for the first time, it felt legitimate to sing, ‘City, City, the best team in the world!’”

With official status secured, the Bermuda branch is focused on building momentum and expanding its membership base.

“Our aim is to grow the club further,” says Youenn.

“We plan to meet regularly to watch matches together, and we hope to organise group trips to the Etihad in the future. We might be a small island, but we have many passionate City fans who are proud to be part of the wider City family.”

The Bermuda Official Supporters Club represents another step in the Club’s ever-expanding global community, a reminder that no matter how far from Manchester, the shared passion for City continues to unite fans around the world.
