Bernard Nguene has completed a permanent move to Standard de Liège, ending any prospect of a return to Nice.

According to L'Équipe, the 19 January loan included a 2 million euros purchase option and a 20% sell-on. Nice then opened fresh talks in recent hours after reaching their loan limit and needing room to finalise Jeremie Boga’s transfer to Juventus.

The clubs subsequently agreed a permanent deal only two weeks after the loan began. The initial option has been voided.

The transfer fee has not been disclosed, but is significantly lower than the original 2 million euros. The sell-on clause has been increased.

Nguene will now continue his career in Belgium following this rapid change in terms.
