Bernardo Silva’s involvement against Chelsea today means he becomes the player with the most Premier League appearances from Portugal.

Before this evening’s encounter, Bernardo was level with Luis Boa Morte but he now moves on to 297 appearances and ahead of the former Arsenal, Southampton, Fulham and West Ham forward.

He’s also ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo on 236 and Bruno Fernandes on 223.

Bernardo’s participation at Stamford Bridge also solidifies his position at the top of most Premier League starts by a Portuguese player, moving on to 235 which is 16 ahead of Boa Morte and Fernandes, 47 ahead of Ronaldo and 60 ahead of Jose Fonte.

The midfield maestro is also ahead in the minutes played metric, having clocked up 21,037 before today’s match compared to 19,379 from Boa Morte, 19,379 from Fernandes and 17,520 from Ronaldo.

Our captain is also way out in front in terms of matches won by a Portuguese player with 212 before today’s Sunday showdown ahead of Ronaldo on 152, City teammate Ruben Dias on 123 and Fernandes on 109.

Bernardo has thus far won 19 major trophies with the Blues - six Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, two FA Cup triumphs, five Carabao Cup successes, three Community Shields, a FIFA Club World Cup and a UEFA Super Cup winner’s medal, with Bernardo also captaining us to 2026 Carabao Cup glory against Arsenal.

Bernardo is also hoping to hunt down the Gunners for the Premier League title as well as vying for a third FA Cup triumph as we face Southampton in the Wembley semi-final later this month.

Congratulations to Bernardo on this latest milestone.
