Besiktas have lodged an official offer for Benfica midfielder Richard Ríos, who has struggled for minutes under Marco Silva, according to Glorioso 1904.

The 26-year-old is not viewed as part of Benfica’s long-term plans, with the club exploring room in the squad to move for Gustavo Puerta.

Alongside Roma and Bournemouth, the Istanbul side have now entered the frame. Besiktas have also pursued Vangelis Pavlidis and Dodi Lukebakio during this window.

Benfica are open to a loan for Ríos, provided the deal includes an option to buy that safeguards a future sale at a satisfactory price.

With minutes limited, the club want to avoid any depreciation of the player’s value. In the absence of firm purchase bids, a loan with an option is being viewed as an increasingly viable route.

Last season Ríos, valued at 25 million euros, made 45 appearances for Benfica, 27 in the league, 12 in the Champions League, three in the Portuguese Cup, two in the League Cup and one in the Super Cup. He logged 3,638 minutes, scoring eight goals and providing six assists.

He has featured in six games in 2026/27.
