Beşiktaş opens its doors to Benin with Junior Olaitan

Beşiktaş has just turned a new page in its history. By signing Junior Ishola Olaitan from Göztepe, the Istanbul club welcomes a Beninese player into its squad for the very first time.

At 23 years old, Olaitan is also making his mark in the club's record books as the 196th foreign player to wear the famous black and white jersey. Having first made a name for himself in Benin with Ayéma FC before moving to France—where he played for Niort, Troyes, and then Grenoble—the Beninese midfielder has stood out this season with Göztepe. In 18 appearances across all competitions, he found the back of the net twice.

On the international stage, Junior Olaitan is a mainstay for the Benin Cheetahs. Since 2021, he has earned 38 caps, scoring 5 goals and providing 6 assists. Beşiktaş is counting on him for the next three and a half seasons.
