Besiktas vice-president Murat Kiliç has indicated Rafa Silva could resume playing soon after rejoining the squad for camp and training, a blow to Benfica’s attempt to bring him back.
According to Glorioso 1904, Kiliç said neither the coach, staff nor board have any issue with the 32-year-old, who is currently training with the team.
He added that Silva can play if he chooses, describing the process as normal and stressing that any decision now rests with the player and the Besiktas coach.
Benfica remain keen on a reunion but only if he arrives without a fee. Rui Costa’s board do not intend to pay a transfer, although they are prepared to offer a lucrative salary that would place him among the top earners.
This season for Besiktas, Silva has made 16 appearances, 10 in the Süper Lig, four in the Europa Conference League and two in Europa League qualifying. Across 1,360 minutes he has scored five goals and supplied three assists, and he is valued at five million euros.
