“Best chance of my career”: Kane targets Ballon d’Or after goal-laden Bayern season | OneFootball

Harry Kane has said this year represents the best chance of his career to win the Ballon d'Or.

Kane is the bookmakers' favourite for the 2026 award ahead of next month's 70th anniversary ceremony in London.

The 32-year-old scored 73 goals for club and country throughout the 2025/26 campaign, winning theBundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup with Bayern Munich.

Kane also becameEngland's all-time leading scorer at World Cup finals in the summer, after captaining the Three Lions to third place in North America. That success represented England's best-ever World Cup performance in an overseas tournament.

Thomas Tuchel has backed Kane for Ballon d'Or success, where the forward could become only the sixth Englishman to win the award. The last English footballer to win the Ballon d'Or was Michael Owen in 2001.

Speaking ahead of England's UEFA Nations League opener against Spain this evening, Kane admitted that this is the best chance of his career so far.

“So far in my career, this is my best chance," he said.

“I'd be extremely proud to win it. I've done a lot of great things that I'm proud of last year. Ultimately it's down to other people. Let's wait and see what happens”.

Kane also confirmed that he is close to signing a new deal at Bayern Munich. His current contract expires next summer, but the England captain is ready to turn down a Premier League return and recommit to the German champions.

“Talks are going well. Everyone can see I am happy there, the way I’m performing, the way I talk off the pitch. I think it is just open and honest. I am hoping something gets done”.
