Beto Márcico has urged Boca to move for Miguel Ángel Borja, with the striker set to leave River. The Colombian recently indicated he had not ruled out a switch across the divide.
Speaking to FM Delta, the Boca idol said the 32-year-old is the number nine the team need for the next tournament.
Márcico recalled being consulted when Borja was close to La Ribera in 2021 and said he had already given his approval. He added that the forward departed River feeling mistreated, despite poor form, and would still try to sign him.
He advised Borja to consider the move, saying joining Boca changes a player’s life for the better, though he doubts the transfer because of rumours linking the striker with Mexican football.
Borja is on holiday in his home country, has a contract with River until 31 December and will not renew. He played 159 games, scored 62 goals and made 10 assists for River, winning three trophies including the 2023 league and the 2022/23 Trofeo de Campeones. He also scored against Boca in a 1-0 league win in 2023 and in a 3-2 defeat in the 2024 Copa de la Liga quarter-finals.
