River Plate have completed the loan signing of left-back Viña from Flamengo, with the 28-year-old joining after medical tests.

The club said in a statement the deal runs until December 2026, with a voluntary buy option that could become obligatory depending on the team's performance. It was signed in the presence of president Stefano Di Carlo.

River will pay 500,000 dollars for the loan. The contract also includes a buy option of five million dollars if the Uruguayan features in 50% of the season's matches.

Viña joined Flamengo in January 2024 for R$ 42.8 million. He fractured his tibia and ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in a draw with Palmeiras on 11 August 2024.

He returned on 1 June 2025 but did not build momentum, starting only three of 10 games last season. His standout display came in a 2-1 win at Bragantino in Bragança Paulista.

He arrived on Sunday night in San Martín de los Andes, where River are in pre-season. He remains under contract with Flamengo until 31 December 2028.
