The Juventus Men’s First Team showed plenty of fight despite playing the majority of their Derby d’Italia against Inter Milan with 10 players, but fell just short as the hosts came out on top in a five-goal game.
With Pierre Kalulu having been sent off after being given two yellow cards, Andrea Cambiaso and Manuel Locatelli each scored equalisers on the night, but Piotr Zielinski struck in the 90th minute to decide the game in Inter’s favour.
The Bianconeri showed their character from early on, and approached the game with the desire to win it. But, Inter took the lead early. In the 17th minute a cross from the hosts’ right was deflected by Andrea Cambiaso, wrongfooting Michele Di Gregorio and finding the back of the net.
But Luciano Spalletti’s side reacted fast. A Kalulu cross shortly after was met by Weston McKennie, though his header was saved by Yann Sommer. Francisco Conceicao also came close, shooting over with a chance of his own.
That pressure paid off in the 26th minute. McKennie put a ball across goal and Cambiaso sniffed out the chance and tapped home to level the scoring.
As the break neared, Di Gregorio made a great save to maintain parity, but moments later Kalulu was judged to have fouled Alessandro Bastoni, himself on a yellow card, and the Bianconeri defender was given his second booking, bringing his night to an early end.
But the Bianconeri showed fight despite the numerical disadvantage, and came out flying after the break. Cambiaso drove forward and forced another save out of Sommer, who then reacted to deny Fabio Miretti on the rebound and McKennie again all in a matter of seconds.
Inter retook the lead through substitute Pio Esposito, but the Bianconeri drew level again through Manuel Locatelli.
Then, with a point just moments away, Zielinski struck in a 90th-minute winner for the hosts.
