The Men’s First Team’s final pre-season fixture lasted just one half at home on Monday, 17 August, evening, with the Bianconeri beating the Next Gen side 2-0.

Forty-five minutes were enough for both Francisco Conceicao and Weston McKennie to get on the scoresheet, and the full-time whistle sounded when the fans in attendance at the Allianz Stadium poured onto the pitch, as per tradition, just seconds before the second half was set to start.

THE MATCH REPORT

The Men’s First Team started brightly against the Next Gen, returning to play at the Allianz Stadium after the Juventus Summer Tour and for one final stretch of the legs before beginning the Serie A season in a week’s time.

Kenan Yildiz was at the centre of everything, and he was posing problems from the first minute. Randal Kolo Muani, too, had chances to open the scoring, but to no avail.

It wasn’t all one-way traffic though, and Carlo Pinsoglio had to be alert at the other end too.

The opening goal came for the Men’s First Team through Conceicao shortly after a quarter of an hour had been played. Some nice play in the final third ended with Douglas Luiz slipping the Portuguese winger through, and Chico made no mistake when in on goal.

The second came on the half-hour mark. Yildiz showed some fine footwork on the left before crossing, and McKennie was on hand to turn home in the box.
Not settling for two goals, the Bianconeri kept knocking and Yildiz remained a threat. Kolo Muani went close again, but was once more unable to find the net.

Luciano Spalletti sent a heavily-changed XI out for the second half, but before they could even be introduced to the game, the fans followed the tradition of this fixture and poured onto the pitch, bringing the full-time whistle before a ball could even be kicked in what was supposed to be the second half.

Smiles and memories were shared on the pitch for quite some time afterwards.

And so that was how pre-season ended. Now, the serious business starts.
