Big boost for Barcelona as star player set to return to action after international break | OneFootball

Among all the injuries Barcelona have suffered so far this season, the absence of Joan Garcia has perhaps hurt them the most.

The new signing from Espanyol was roped in to become Barcelona’s first-choice goalkeeper. And after an excellent start, he picked up an injury, which forced the club to count on veteran Wojciech Szczesny.

Szczesny, though, has been far from brilliant and has conceded goals left and right. He has yet to keep a single clean sheet in any of the nine matches he has played in all competitions, conceding 17 goals in the process.

Joan Garcia to return after international break

But in a major boost for Barcelona, it appears Joan Garcia is finally set to become available at the disposal of Hansi Flick, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian transfer expert suggests Garcia will be available for Barcelona once the ongoing November international break comes to an end.

This could be a major boon for Flick, as it would solidify Barcelona between the sticks, especially at a time when the club are looking to chase Real Madrid at the top of the league table.

Garcia, who has already kept three clean sheets in seven matches, will look to improve his stats even further, having conceded just five goals so far this season.

His first real task will be against Athletic Club, although we must await an official confirmation from Barcelona regarding his fitness.

In addition to Garcia, Barcelona are also expected to be blessed with the return of Pedri this month. While Garcia may start against Athletic Club, Pedri might return to action in the UEFA Champions League tie against Chelsea.
