Newcastle United have had a significant double boost ahead of facing Everton at the weekend.
Monday night saw Everton playing away at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
One of those games where it is difficult (impossible?) to know who you want to win, or rather, who you most want to get beat.
Man U have been carrying loads of luck and fluking their way up the table, papering over the cracks, so I suppose a case of having to want the scouse mackems to at least not lose.
In the event, the whole thing was hilarious and bizarre.
Everton lost right-back and captain Seamus Coleman to injury after only ten minutes, so he looks sure to miss the Newcastle United match.
Whilst a bizarre case of handbags only three minutes later between two scouse mackem players, saw Idrissa Gueye red carded for pushing teammate Michael Keane in the face, so Gueye will also miss the United match on Saturday for sure.
Then to top the evening off, we then witnessed surely the most clueless attempt to play 80+ minutes with an extra man, as Amorim and his Man U side were woeful.
The scouse mackems running themselves into the ground and winning 1-0 thanks to an excellent 29th minute Dewsbury-Hall goal, that the Man U keeper should still have comfortably saved.
With a win against the scouse mackems, Newcastle United could potentially end up as high as ninth next weekend and above the likes of Man U, Spurs, Everton and Liverpool.
A very crowded schedule for Eddie Howe and his side, kicked off in the best possible fashion on Saturday with that deserved victory over Man City.
Newcastle United having these nine matches in four weeks, before then we get to Xmas.
The nine matches in four weeks were/are Man City (H), Marseille (A), Everton (A), Spurs (H), Burnley (H), Bayer Leverkusen (A), Sunderland (A), Fulham (H) and Chelsea (H).
This is a concentrated period of time that could dictate the direction of this season. Positive results against Marseille and Everton would perfectly set us up for those two quickfire home matches against Spurs and Burnley.
This season most certainly still has everything to play for, especially if the likes of Gordon and then Wissa can then hit the ground running, as Hall and Livramento did on Saturday, when returning to the matchday squad.
