Birmingham City's new recruit, August Priske, has already been described as a future Premier League player after making a strong impression in the first weeks of his stint at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park.

As has been the case with the majority of signings which Blues have made under the ownership of Knighthead Capital Management, there was plenty of hype generated when it was revealed that the Championship side were to fend off competition from the likes of Besiktas and LOSC Lille for the services of the Danish youth international who had lit up the Swedish Allsvenskan with Djurgardens IF.

Priske was one of six new faces recruited by Chris Davies throughout an extremely busy winter transfer window in this part of the West Midlands, as the 21-year-old was joined by Jonathan Panzo, Kai Wagner, Jhon Solis, Carlos Vicente and Ibrahim Osman on the incomings front - added to the fact Patrick Roberts' loan switch from Sunderland was turned into a permanent transfer on Deadline Day - whilst several previous fringe players were allowed to leave the club in search of much needed and regular first-team minutes.

The Genk-born forward, whose father, Brian, previously enjoyed a spell with Portsmouth during his playing days, would link up with the likes of Jay Stansfield, Marvin Ducksch and Kyogo Furuhashi in Davies' attacking department as Birmingham continue their push for a play-off spot in the final 14 games of the regular season.

And, whilst less than a month has passed since the highly-rated striker put pen-to-paper on a contract lasting until the summer of 2031, Football League World's Birmingham City fan pundit, Jason Moore, believes Priske has all the attributes needed to become a successful top-flight forward in the coming years.

Premier League future claim made on £6m Birmingham City ace August Priske

Since making his £6m switch from the Stockholm-based club, where he scored 18 times last season as Djurgardens reached the UEFA Conference League semi-finals, Priske has already made five appearances for Birmingham since his debut against Stoke City on January 24th.

The striker thought he'd netted a crucial last-gasp winner in the West Midlands derby against West Bromwich Albion on February 10th, before his stunning header was ruled out for an offside against Demarai Gray, before he led the Blues attack with an impressive 74-minute performance against Premier League Leeds United on Sunday in the eventual penalty-shootout defeat in the FA Cup fourth round.

Even in such a small sample size of outings, Moore has been left extremely impressed with Priske's efforts and performance levels, a viewpoint which has been shared by many Bluenoses.

"I really, really, really like the look of him," Jason told FLW.

"He's got a bit of presence and pace behind him, and he battles and runs. That is the bare minimum for any footballer, but some of them can't even meet that.

"His movement looks really good. Obviously, he's got to learn about the Championship and his teammates, but I think he could be a real asset for us," Moore stated.

"I think he's a Premier League player in waiting, and he's only 21.

"He's got so much more to learn. I think he could be a real 'beater' in the Premier League. Whether that's at the top end, I doubt.

"But, I still think he's a Premier League player in waiting, and, hopefully, that's for us.

"I think there's a real chance that he'll score a lot of goals next season if we're in the Championship, which at this moment, I'm going to bet we are," Moore added.

"I hope he can take us far and stay with us, but I definitely think he's a Premier League player in waiting."

August Priske has offered Birmingham City a different attacking dimension

It's no surprise that Priske has earned such strong praise already, as the Dane has given Blues a completely different attacking dimension.

Whilst he is yet to, statistically, get his name on the scoresheet, his disallowed header against West Brom showcased his aerial threat from set-pieces, whilst his link-up play and off-the-ball movement and intelligence were there for all to see against Leeds.

At 21, Blues are buying into his potential, and there is definitely scope for it to grow alongside the club, as they hope to return to the Premier League in the coming seasons.
