Sheffield United host Birmingham City in the Championship at Bramall Lane on Saturday, 15 August 2026, with both aiming to carry strong summer results into matchday one.

Recent meetings have been tight: five draws in the last 11, with Sheffield United winning 3-0 at home in December 2025 before a 1-1 in Birmingham in March 2026.

The Blades arrive on the back of an unbeaten warm-up and a 3-0 win at Mansfield Town. Birmingham opened with victory at Swansea City and had a productive summer, including a 2-2 draw against Barcelona followed by a penalty shootout success, plus wins over Burton Albion, Crewe Alexandra and Solihull Moors.

Sheffield United are without defender Sam McCallum. Birmingham are missing forward Marvin Ducksch and midfielders Kanya Fujimoto and Taylor Gardner-Hickman through injury.

The Blades could lean on attacking options such as Patrick Bamford, Tyrese Campbell and Thomas Cannon, with Chris Wilder's side looking to impose themselves at home. Birmingham may threaten from wide areas through Demarai Gray and Patrick Roberts, while Jay Stansfield offers a central focal point under Chris Davies.

A win would put Birmingham on three points and could set an early platform near the top end. Victory for the Blades would also place three points on the board and may kickstart a push towards the play-off picture. Next up, the Blades visit Swansea City, while Birmingham are set to host Bristol City.
