FLW’s Birmingham City fan pundit has reacted to Wolves being linked with a move for former Blues forward Che Adams.
Birmingham City’s season is meandering towards an underwhelming end under Chris Davies.
Criticism has been aimed at the 41-year-old after a dismal recent run of form has left their play-off hopes in tatters, despite significant investment from owner Tom Wagner.
That means one eye will definitely be on next season and how they plan to attack the 2026-27 campaign.
The Championship will prove to be so much more demanding though, as West Midlands rivals Wolves had their relegation back down to the second tier confirmed. Burnley also look set to join them, while there’s a fierce battle on between West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur for 18th spot.
With such big names set to come back down, Blues will have to get their recruitment spot on if they are to be promotion candidates, with the pressure firmly on to meet Wagner’s lofty ambitions of being a Premier League team again.
Meanwhile, talk has been beginning to surface on the transfer front, with Wolves keen to progress early on their summer business now their place back in the Championship has been confirmed.
And according to a report by the BBC, Rob Edwards is lining up a move to bring experienced forward Che Adams to Molineux to help them gain an immediate return to the top-flight.
Of course, Adams has big connections to St Andrew’s after representing the club for three years between 2016 and 2019, which saw him net 38 goals in 123 appearances.
Right now, he is in the Italian top division with Torino, scoring five goals in 30 games this term, but could be set for a return back to England and in the West Midlands to help Wolves be a dominant force back in the second tier.
With this in mind, FLW’s Birmingham City fan pundit has reacted to Wolves being linked with a move for their former forward Adams, and whether he thinks Birmingham should be getting involved in the race to secure his signature.

Speaking to Football League World, Birmingham City fan pundit Jason Moore believes the club currently has too many forward options to facilitate a move for Che Adams.
While he would generally welcome a move back for the 29-year-old, he insists Blues will only be able to pursue a move should they have a mass clear out in the forward department this summer.
Jason told FLW: “I really like the fact we’re going down the route of getting slightly younger players. I think August Priske looks a real talent, but obviously just needs to find the net.
“Che (Adams) would come as a proven striker to get you out this league, but it just depends, doesn’t it, because if you go and get Che Adams to Blues, and then hypothetically, no one else leaves, you’ve got Priske, we’ve just signed for £6m, you’re not paying £6m not to play him, you’ve got Jay Stansfield who we’ve paid £12m for, he’s going to want to play too.
“Then you’ve got Furuhashi on stupid wages sitting around doing nothing. You’ve then got the argument about whether Marvin Ducksch is a nine, but he’s still an attacking player that wants to play, so you think, where is Che going to fit in at that point? On top of paying a fee for him.
“So as much as the romantic reunion for Blues fans and Che Adams will be great, I don’t think it’s one we’ll pursue unless we see a ton (of players) go out the door, and even then, do we want to do it?
“Don’t get me wrong, I would 100 percent take him, but we’re slowly getting to a point where we have to be smart with our business.
“Hand on heart right now, gun to my head, I’d say no, don’t pursue it.”

There’s no doubt Che Adams would be a huge asset to Birmingham City if he was to make a return to the Championship, with his tally of 22 goals in the 2018-19 term at St Andrew’s the best return of his career at that level.
The Scottish international also carried on his ruthlessness when making the switch to Southampton, netting 15 times in the 2023-24 campaign as the Saints returned to the big time.
However, Adams has never quite been able to replicate it in the top divisions, failing to get into double figures on even one occasion, and that trend has continued over in Italy.
So a return to the Championship could be what the forward needs to reignite his career and get back on the goalscoring trail regularly.
From Birmingham’s point of view, as Jason mentions, Blues have a lot of forwards on their books already, so you imagine they would have to ship out at least two or three to feel comfortable enough to give Adams ample game time.
But the issue will be the length of time it takes to find the right buyers, and in that time, Adams may already have signed on the dotted line to join Wolves, with Wanderers possessing a stronger chance of returning to the Premier League compared to Birmingham.
Therefore, it seems a deal is very unlikely to happen at this stage, with Wolves ready to step in immediately and secure a deal as they are set to possess dominant financial resources.
