Birmingham City go clear in the Barclays Women’s Championship, London City up to second, Newcastle recover a two-goal deficit to draw.

Birmingham City went one point clear at the top with victory at the Stadium of Light.

London City had a narrow win away to lowly Portsmouth, which lifted them into second position.

Newcastle United came from two down to earn a point in a 2-2 tie at Southampton, as they remain four points ahead of them in seventh.

Molly Pike struck twice in the first 20 minutes for Saints, sliding in to net a Rachel Brown cross and when sent clear by Megan Collett.

United were back in it when Shania Hayles was on target assisted by Emily Murphy, then in added time Amy Andrews equalised.

Sheffield United held Durham to a 1-1 draw at Bramall Lane, as the visitors moved level on points with third-placed Bristol City, the Blades four points off the bottom.

Michaela Foster curled a corner straight in for the Wildcats, Jacqui Hand heading in the equaliser for Sheffield in the 65th minute.
