Birmingham City have sent youngsters Abbi Jenner and Layla Banaras out to third tier clubs to gain some senior playing experience.

The Blues announced news of the pair’s temporary departures this evening via their official club X account.

It has been reported that Jenner has joined Stoke City on loan while Banaras has moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers on a dual-registration basis.

Jenner has been on the fringes of the Birmingham City senior squad for the last three seasons. She made three appearances for the Blues in the Barclays Women’s Championship last season, however, her only outings this term have come in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup.

Banaras came into the first team picture last season. The player has made the matchday squad on a handful of occasions but she is still awaiting her senior debut.

Jenner joins a Stoke City side that are currently in eighth position in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division table. The Potters have a solid league ranking and are in no real danger of relegation. Meanwhile, Banaras joins a Wolverhampton Wanderers side who are in fifth place. The West Midlands outfit are playing catch up in the race for promotion.

Birmingham City head coach Darren Carter will keep a watchful eye on both young players during their time away from St Andrew’s.
