Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden praised Flamengo’s stature and said the brand would always want to partner with Rubro-Negro, leaving the door open to future projects.
"Historically, Brazil is football. I think all of us who love football would say that. So to have the club in Brazil that means the most, Flamengo, is something Adidas should have," he said. He was speaking to TNT Sports Brasil.
"The local team decides which clubs we will sign. But I do not think there is any hesitation that we should always be partners with Flamengo. We are very interested in what the club will do in the future."
Flamengo and Adidas have collaborated twice. The first spell ran from 1980 to 1992 in the Zico era, then the partnership returned in May 2013 and continues today.
In 2024 they renewed their deal until 2029, worth an average of R$ 70 million per year. The club are guaranteed at least R$ 44 million annually, paid in three instalments in February, May and August. With title bonuses, Flamengo can receive up to R$ 90 million in a year.
Footy Headlines reports Adidas plan a special Flamengo kit in 2027, with 1980s shirts leading candidates for a reissue to honour Libertadores and Club World Cup wins.
The 2027 match shirts are already approved, featuring a classic striped home, a predominantly white away with a retro CRF and the Adidas Originals mark, and a black third with pink detailing plus trim in pink, blue and yellow.
