Tony Mowbray is hopeful Andri Gudjohnsen will be fit for Blackburn Rovers’ clash with Millwall after returning to training.
The Iceland international missed Tuesday’s defeat to Sheffield United.
“I hope Andri will be ready,” Mowbray said. “He trained today and looks like he’ll be alright, as long as there’s no negative reaction.
“He will hopefully be with the training group tomorrow and be available for selection.”
Moussa Baradji could also return to the bench, while goalkeeper Balazs Toth is available to start.
Scott Wharton is also stepping up his recovery but is not expected to be ready to make a first-team comeback against Millwall.
However, Mowbray confirmed Yuki Ohashi and Mathias Jorgensen are still out for the longer term.
“I don’t think they’ll be fit after the international break, it will be a little bit longer than that,” he said. “That isn’t great news for us.”
However, Blackburn have suffered a blow with their hopes of signing free agent midfielder Ryōtarō Itō now in serious doubt.
“I’m not really sure what’s happened,” Mowbray said. “I came in here and thought we had a new signing in the building but at this moment nothing’s been done and nothing’s happened.
Asked if it could still sign, Mowbray replied: “I genuinely don’t know, but it would suggest to me that it’s not going to happen now. I don’t know why it didn’t happen.
“I would have assumed the fact that the agents and the player travelled on the understanding that the deal would have been sort of done, so for whatever reason, which I’m not privy to at this moment (it’s not).”
