Blackburn Rovers manager Valérien Ismaël has left the club 'by mutual consent' with the club currently in the relegation zone.

The Lancashire side suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Hull City on Saturday which proved to be the end of the line for Ismaël with the team having won just once in the last 15 games in all competitions.

"Blackburn Rovers would like to thank Valérien and Dean [Whitehead, assistant] for their efforts during their time at the club and wish them both the very best for the future," the club said in a statement.   "The club will now begin the process of appointing a new Head Coach and will make no further comment until an appointment is confirmed."

In total, Ismaël oversaw 43 Rovers games since being appointed in February 2025 with a record of 11 wins, 12 draws, and 20 defeats.

Rovers are back in action on Tuesday evening when they host bottom-of-the-league Sheffield Wednesday.
