Nathan Redmond's short-term deal at Sheffield Wednesday has expired, and he is now available on a free transfer
Nathan Redmond is once again a free agent after his short-term deal with Sheffield Wednesday has come to an end, with FLW looking at three clubs that should look to pick up the veteran winger after his Owls departure.
English winger Nathan Redmond is on the search for another club after his short-term deal with Sheffield Wednesday has expired following the Owls' defeat away to Bristol City.
Redmond, whose contract officially expired on January 26th with no renewal having been agreed, made just six league appearances during his brief stint at Hillsborough, playing just over 100 minutes without scoring or assisting.
All in all, it was a forgetful spell, and one that many will likely not remember in years to come, but Redmond, who has made over 275 appearances in the Premier League and over 100 in the Championship, still only 31, has a lot left to give just yet.
The once-capped England international is probably best remembered for his time with Norwich City and Southampton, but since leaving the Saints in 2022, has spent time with both Besiktas in Turkey and Burnley back in the top flight.
Despite his disappointing two-month stint with Wednesday, Darren Witcoop has reported via X that interest is expected to be strong in Redmond, as FLW has identified three possible next destinations for the 31-year-old.

Barnsley find themselves in an interesting position in the League One table, where if they win all of their games in hand on the surrounding teams, they could well find themselves in the play-off places, but lose them, and they could be in the relegation zone.
Indeed, the Tykes, led by former Aston Villa and Republic of Ireland midfielder Conor Hourihane, have had a fairly average season, with the January window looking to be a decisive one for how the rest of their season will unfold.
Both Reyes Cleary and Davis Keillor-Dunn, their star players in more than one aspect, have been linked with moves away this month, with Cleary drawing interest from the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City, and Sheffield United, whilst FLW exclusively revealed that Wrexham have submitted a bid for Keillor-Dunn.
Should either of those leave, it would be a huge blow for Barnsley, who would realistically be waving their hopes of a top-six finish away this season.
Though if either of them do indeed leave, a move for Redmond may not be the worst option, as, at 31, the winger still possesses a huge degree of quality with ample experience, something which Hourihane could benefit from.
If he wants to remain in Yorkshire and is up for a challenge, Barnsley and Redmond could be a match made in heaven.

Blackburn Rovers are in the midst of a relegation battle, with a dreadful run of form under the watch of former Watford and West Brom boss Valerien Ismael seeing the former Premier League champions languish towards the bottom of the table.
A big factor for their struggles has been the huge amount of injuries that the club has sustained over the course of the season, and without a good degree of strength in depth, it has taken its toll on their league standings.
Despite completing a deal for Bodo/Glimt attacker Mathias Jorgensen, his addition may not be enough, and with little Championship experience, he remains a relatively untested quantity at this level.
Someone like Redmond, despite having made 18 appearances for bitter rivals Burnley not too long ago, would add some much-needed experience to a Rovers squad which is currently sorely lacking just that.
His time at Burnley wasn't too impactful, and if he was to make the move to Ewood Park, it certainly wouldn't be an overly contentious one.

Luton Town's dramatic rise to the Premier League and fall back into League One has been a huge rollercoaster of emotions for the Hatters, who now find themselves in the hunt for a play-off place in the third tier, albeit they are on a poor run of form at the moment.
The Hatters' transfer business has been a bit all over the place in recent times, lacking a clear strategy and identity that served them so well in their rise to the top flight.
They have earned the reputation of signing experienced players on free transfers, with the likes of Ross Barkley, Erik Pieters, Victor Moses, Nahki Wells, and George Saville all joining the club in such deals in recent years.
With Millenic Alli having joined Portsmouth on loan for the remainder of the season and Cohen Bramall recently operating out on the left flank, Redmond could prove to be a viable cheap option for the Hatters this month.
