FLW's Blackburn fan pundit shares their thoughts on who they expect to leave the club before the end of the window

Blackburn Rovers have had a quiet start to the window, though head coach Tony Mowbray is doing everything in his power to ensure that changes sooner rather than later.

Blackburn narrowly scraped survival in the Championship last season, and following Michael O'Neill turning down the permanent post at Ewood Park, turned to former manager Mowbray to return to the club to guide them into the next campaign.

With Ryan Hedges and Sondre Trondstad having left the club, no other notable departures have occurred, much to the delight of the club's supporters, though few incomings have arrived either, likely much to the dismay of supporters.

Jayden Fevrier has signed from Stockport County to add another option in the final third, as Blackburn supporters will be hoping for more through the doors sooner rather than later, especially after Mowbray recently flew out to Switzerland to meet with the Venkys ownership in a bid to secure more funds.

However, whilst incomings remain a priority, departures are still on the cards, as Football League World's Blackburn fan pundit Simon Middlehurst shares who they think will leave the club before the end of the window.

Simon said: "I still think that Toth and Alebiosu will probably go. They were our standout players last season.

"Toth has only got one year left on his contract. He's obviously now cemented himself as Hungary's number one keeper, and he's going to want to play at a high standard to keep that going as well, and I think Blackburn will want to cash in. I don't think he'll sign a new contract, and Blackburn should want to cash in on that ASAP.

"Alebiosu, obviously again, was a standout player last season. He's already been linked to a few Premier League clubs and also clubs abroad. Again, another player that Blackburn will probably want to cash in on, which is to be expected."

Toth, 28, with one year remaining on his current deal at the club, looks destined for a departure before the end of the window, and turned down a fresh deal recently, only heightening fears of an exit.

Alebiosu, 24, on the other hand, is on a long-term contract in Lancashire, having only joined last summer for around £500k from Belgian side KV Kortrijk, but with interest from the likes of Brentford and Rangers, according to Alan Nixon's Patreon, Mowbray's side face an uphill battle retaining his services this summer.

The potential departures of Toth and Alebiosu, it goes without saying, would be critical blows to Blackburn, and in turn, severely damage their hopes of survival next year.

Toth made 97 saves and kept eight clean sheets behind a shaky Blackburn defence at the best of times last time around, whilst Alebiosu's energy and physicality from right wing-back proved to be a nightmare for opposition to deal with, both in attack and defence.

Everton were reportedly interested in a move for the Hungarian shot-stopper previously, whilst the Toffees, alongside German side Wolfsburg, also held an interest in the Nigerian defender as recently as January.

Genoa saw a bid worth around €5 million (£4.3 million) rejected for Alebiosu in the winter, and Blackburn will do well to keep hold of the pair beyond the summer.

With Mowbray working overtime to secure more funds for Blackburn's transfer kitty this summer, the former West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland boss will be desperate to stamp his authority on the squad this summer.

The 62-year-old will be keen to ensure his side doesn't come out of the transfer window in a weaker position than when it headed into it, and keeping Toth and Alebiosu around will help to ensure that's the case.

However, in the event of their departures, the money they obtain from their sales must be reinvested back into the squad; otherwise, they will be in big trouble.

Mowbray must maintain his positive relationship with the Venky's to ensure this is the case, as Blackburn supporters await updates on their window.
