Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali admits it will be terrible if they miss out on qualifying for the Champions League again at the end of this season.
Juve were on track to finish in the top four at the end of last season before their form deteriorated and allowed Roma and Como to overtake them.
It was a disappointing way to end the season, but they stuck with Luciano Spalletti as their manager and see the gaffer as someone who can certainly make the team better.
Juve will continue to do their best to support the coach and ensure he performs well in his duties for the team. The gaffer also knows his team simply has to finish in the top four.
Juve want to win some trophies by the end of this campaign, but the minimum requirement for an important season is for them to finish the term in the Champions League places.
Failure to do so will come with serious financial consequences, particularly after the club missed out on the competition last season. Securing a place among Europe’s elite will therefore remain a major objective for the Bianconeri as they continue their campaign.
Carnevali explained the importance of Champions League qualification and the financial impact of missing out. He said via Football Italia:
“A top four finish gives you financial guarantees, and this year we are seeing losses without the Champions League.
“It has become more business than football, it’s one thing if you qualify for the Champions League, otherwise it’s a bloodbath. Having said that, we won’t be happy with the top four, the objective for us all is to win.”

Carnevali’s comments highlight the pressure on Juventus to secure Champions League football while also competing for trophies. Although finishing in the top four is considered the minimum requirement, the club’s wider ambition is to win.
The Bianconeri will therefore have to maintain their focus throughout the remainder of the campaign, with their Champions League position carrying significant financial importance.
