Boca are advancing 2026 pre-season plans and are considering two friendlies with supporters at La Bombonera in mid January. The idea is not yet officially confirmed.
According to SuperDepor.com, the board led by Juan Román Riquelme is driving the proposal, with the squad on holiday after the 2025 Clausura.
Training is due to resume on 2 January. For now Claudio Úbeda is set to lead preparations, though the club says his position remains under evaluation. The camp will be held at Boca’s Ezeiza base.
The plan seeks match sharpness before the 2026 Apertura, with the opener set for the weekend of 25 January against Deportivo Riestra. Hosting games at the ground would also give access to members who often miss out under the filter system.
While details are finalised, the hierarchy are working on transfers and squad building for a year whose main target is returning to the Copa Libertadores after two seasons away.
Ander Herrera, 36, is weighing his future after injuries limited him to 17 of 44 possible appearances. Under contract until December 2026, he is considering either rejoining for pre-season or retiring.
Edinson Cavani’s situation is similar. Fitness issues restricted the Uruguayan to 24 games and kept him out of key fixtures. His deal runs to 2026 and the board expect greater regularity from the captain.
Boca have seen the departures of Cristian Lema, Frank Fabra and Ignacio Miramón. 26 players will return from loans and another three are set to become free agents, signalling a refresh.
