Boca have completed the permanent transfer of Kevin Zenón to Atlas in Mexico, according to LaNumer12.com.ar. The 25-year-old leaves for a new challenge and the club recoups its outlay.

Hernán Crespo’s side raised their bid to buy 100% of his rights, the deal closing at a gross six million dollars. Boca held 80% and will receive a net four point eight million dollars, with one point two million to Unión de Santa Fe.

Atlas had initially proposed a loan with a purchase option, an offer Boca rejected in favour of a definitive sale. This agreement comfortably amortises the three point five million dollars paid for Zenón at the start of 2024.

Zenón made 92 appearances for Boca, scoring 11 goals and supplying eight assists. He impressed in his first semester as a starter, then saw his form dip and lost ground.

He netted his final goal for the club in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Gimnasia de Mendoza. Although he had been regaining minutes in Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s rotation in recent weeks, the financial offer ultimately sealed his exit.

Despite the cash boost, regulations mean Boca cannot register a replacement, with the Argentine transfer window now closed. There is no extra slot to recruit domestically or abroad.

Even so, Arruabarrena has been lifted by Rodrigo Battaglia’s return to full training after a long Achilles tendon lay-off, adding senior depth in midfield. The staff plan to ease him back to ensure full fitness as Boca reshuffle their options to compete on three fronts.
