Boca were again the home side at the Tomás A. Ducó and were held 1-1 by Vélez despite a dominant display. The hosts left frustrated after failing to turn superiority into three points.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Boca were clearly on top and merited more. They started brighter but fell behind to a Valdés free-kick after Álvaro Montero’s mistake, then Santiago Ascacibar levelled from close range. His equaliser felt fair reward for the pressure.

Ascacibar has now scored in three straight matches and is Boca’s leading scorer in the current campaign. He might have had more, going close with two headers, a curling left-footer and a bicycle kick.

Leandro Paredes mixed grit and craft, retrieving ball after ball and threading passes that opened the pitch, and he cleared off the line to atone for an earlier error. Set pieces remained a blemish. On the left, Lautaro Blanco impressed again, secure defensively and lively in support.

Montero never looked settled and confidence appeared low. Coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena read the game well and timed his changes, but Sebastián Villa’s stint on the right offered little. The left flank still felt underused given Blanco’s form.
