Boca Juniors are coping with an early 2026 injury glut, forcing Claudio Úbeda to tweak plans and turn to younger players.
According to Sitiboca.com.ar, eight players are sidelined. Rodrigo Battaglia has undergone surgery for insertional Achilles tendinopathy and faces six to eight months out.
Milton Giménez missed pre-season with pubalgia, then had surgery after alternative treatment. He could be back in March or April.
Carlos Palacios had right-knee synovitis and underwent a clean-up. He is estimated to return in late March or early April.
Edinson Cavani began the year with lumbago and had a January injection, but the pain returned mid February. If he repeats the treatment, he could need two to three weeks of complete rest.
Alan Velasco suffered a knee sprain against Riestra. He is in the final stage of recovery and close to returning.
Exequiel Zeballos sustained a grade two tear after the win over Newell’s. He is not yet training fully but could return during March.
Ángel Romero, a free arrival from Corinthians, started the Copa Argentina before a muscle injury. His recovery is estimated for late March or early April, which would allow a return.
Right-back Juan Barinaga was injured before travelling to Salta for the Copa Argentina. Marcelo Weigandt has deputised and is set to continue until Barinaga returns, with late March targeted.
