Boca Juniors president Riquelme on Paredes: “The door is open to him” | OneFootball

Leandro Paredes is edging closer to a return to Boca Juniors, the club where his professional career began. The Roma midfielder has long dreamed of wearing the Xeneizes shirt again, and that dream is now on the verge of becoming reality.

Confirming the growing speculation, Boca Juniors president Juan Román Riquelme addressed the situation during an interview on the club’s official television channel.

“Everyone knows the kind of relationship I have with Leandro,” Riquelme told El Canal de Boca.

“He has the door open at our club — that’s all I can say. There are days when nothing gets said, then we start talking again — that’s just how this works.”

Adding, “I have a great relationship with him, but there’s not much more I can communicate right now.”

Paredes, who played for Boca before launching his European career, has made no secret of his desire to return to Argentina. With Roma willing to part ways with the World Cup-winning midfielder, a deal could be finalised in the coming days.
