The game was due to be played at the Estadio Único de San Nicolás. Boca’s directors, led by Juan Román Riquelme and Marcelo Delgado, will choose a new opponent, with Olimpia of Paraguay under consideration.

The first friendly is already confirmed for Wednesday 14 January against Millonarios of Colombia at La Bombonera. That fixture will also pay tribute to Miguel Ángel Russo, with a trophy bearing the name of the coach who has managed both clubs.

Boca have also finalised several departures for players returning from loan. Lucas Brochero will join San Miguel for one year, Gabriel Aranda is set for Racing de Córdoba, and Agustín Obando will move to Atlético Rafaela. Riquelme continues to work in the transfer market.
