Boca are advancing plans to expand La Bombonera, centred on a new lower tier that could lift capacity from about 57,000 to around 67,000 in a first phase. The project hinges on approvals linked to nearby railway infrastructure, since some supporting columns would sit beside the tracks and must be cleared by Ferrosur and the CNRT.
According to SuperDepor.com, the scheme sits within a wider programme led by Juan Román Riquelme and aims to keep increasing capacity in stages at the Alberto J. Armando in La Boca.
The headline change would be a fourth tier added beneath the existing three, bringing roughly 6,000 extra seats. Access would be served by four external towers on the railway side, housing 18 lifts that link to the third and future fourth tiers.
Further works would remove seats permanently in sector K to free space and widen entrances and concourses in Platea L. Plans also include new food and drink areas and a major expansion of hospitality boxes from 86 to about 240.
The broader blueprint envisages shifting the pitch a few metres towards the tracks, relocating the dugouts and building a new players' tunnel. A stadium-wide roof with a 360-degree screen is also being studied.
If every phase is delivered, overall capacity could approach 80,000 in the future. Supporters have long called for upgrades at Brandsen 805.
