The club said in a statement on Monday that Tomás Belmonte has sustained a grade two injury to his left adductor, while Ángel Romero remains in recovery from discomfort in the same area.
Belmonte’s diagnosis is a partial tear of the left adductor, a grade two muscle injury that involves a moderate fibre rupture, typically causing pain, swelling and restricted high-intensity movement.
Such injuries usually require three to four weeks of rehabilitation, depending on his progress and response to medical and physiotherapy treatment.
Romero is in the final phase of recovering from a muscle problem in the left adductor. He has been working through a rehabilitation programme, and a return to normal training will depend on how he responds in the coming days to planned physical loads.
Their absence is a challenge for the Boca coach during a demanding spell in the calendar. Belmonte had been an important midfield option, and Romero offers attacking variety and experience.
Both players will remain under medical supervision as their recoveries progress.
