Boca have changed tack in the market and are weighing moves for two attackers. Ángel Romero has emerged after failed attempts for Marino Hinestroza and for Alexis Cuello and Gastón Hernández with San Lorenzo.
According to SuperDepor.com, Juan Román Riquelme has made contact with Romero, with whom he has a good relationship. The Paraguayan, who can play wide or up front, is a free agent after leaving Corinthians of Brazil, where he won several trophies in recent years, so Boca would only need to negotiate his contract.
To make room, the club freed a foreign slot by rescinding Bruno Valdez’s deal, which had one year left. Boca plan to offer Romero a two-season contract.
Boca have also asked Banfield for terms for Rodrigo Auzmendi, a 25-year-old, 1.91m centre-forward with four goals in 15 matches. There is no formal offer yet, but interest has grown because Miguel Merentiel, Edinson Cavani and Milton Giménez are injured.
Talks with San Lorenzo over Cuello show no concrete progress. Boca are seeking to address their immediate need up front with Romero as an immediate option and Auzmendi as an alternative, in a window to forget so far, with no additions yet.
