According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Boca Juniors have reached a verbal agreement to make Ángel Romero their first signing of the window, after the club’s pursuit of Marino Hinestroza collapsed.

The 33-year-old will join as a free agent after leaving Corinthians, having agreed his arrival with club president Juan Román Riquelme.

Boca had looked set to wrap up a deal for Hinestroza before talks unravelled. The winger prioritised finances and chose Vasco da Gama.

In a separate negotiation, San Lorenzo have refused to sell Alexis Cuello, placing hurdles to block a move to Boca.

Romero’s case proved simpler because he was unattached following his exit from Corinthians, where he is the club’s most-used foreign player with 377 appearances and top overseas scorer with 67 goals.

He also left his mark at the Neo Química Arena, where he is the venue’s second all-time top scorer with 43 goals in 179 matches.

Story developing.
