Boca are finalising their pre-season plans and could confirm a friendly in the coming hours, with an 8 July meeting with Nacional in Salta under consideration.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the board are assessing a formal proposal to stage the game at Estadio Padre Ernesto Martearena, a tune-up before the return to official competition.
The fixture would allow the coaching staff to gauge match sharpness after intensive work at Ezeiza and to bed in any arrivals. Vasco Arruabarrena is in charge of the team.
Nacional, a storied continental rival, are weighing the proposal, and there is also the possibility of another friendly at La Bombonera.
This warm-up is viewed as important given the demanding schedule ahead. The priority is to hit the right tempo and align quickly with Arruabarrena’s approach for the first game for points.
Boca will begin their official campaign on 16 July against Sarmiento de Junín in the Copa Argentina last 32, a competition that offers a direct berth to the next Copa Libertadores.
The Argentine FA have set the date, although kick-off time and venue remain unconfirmed. Jujuy is the leading candidate to host, which would turn Boca’s northern trip into a compelling double date for local supporters.
