That Bayern Munich wanted to offload Sacha Boey during the summer is no secret, and sporting board member Max Eberl reiterated after Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Schalke 04 that the club remained keen to part ways with the Frenchman.
“We've communicated very clearly from the very beginning, now for over four months. There are still some transfer markets open. Let’s see what happens,” he told Bild.
According to Munich-based outlet AZ, a move to Saudi Arabia was under discussion, but failed to materialise before the transfer window closed there on Sunday.
With that opportunity now gone, the biggest potential exit route is no longer available, while the markets that remain open are considerably less attractive for the 25-year-old right-back.
The window in Switzerland closes on Tuesday, while the one in Greece remains open for another week.
AZ considers a move for Boey to either of these leagues “extremely unlikely”, with the right-back now expected to stay at Bayern.
