Bologna look at Gudmundsson and Theate, could release Rowe for Atalanta | OneFootball

Bologna could spark a transfer domino effect with Albert Gudmundsson from Fiorentina, sending Jonathan Rowe to Atalanta, while Arthur Theate could return from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Rossoblu had a nasty surprise to start their Serie A season under new coach Domenico Tedesco, suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Lazio on Monday.

They also had some disastrous pre-season friendly results, so are now trying to improve the squad before the transfer deadline.

Bologna need to revamp squad

According to L’Equipe, that could mean the return of defender Theate, who already wore the Bologna jersey in the 2021-22 campaign.

The Belgium international was sold to Stade Rennes for €19m that summer, then moved on to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025.

Meanwhile, Sky Sport Italia insist Bologna have asked Fiorentina for the availability of Icelandic forward Gudmundsson, who has struggled since his move to the Stadio Franchi.

If Gudmundsson did come to the Stadio Dall’Ara, it would allow the Rossoblu to in turn sell Rowe to Atalanta.

It had already been reported that Atalanta made a second bid for Rowe worth €35m plus add-ons, but that the Rossoblu were unwilling to let him leave after previously selling Santiago Castro to Roma.
