Bologna are weighing moves that could trigger a domino, with Arthur Theate in line for a return from Eintracht Frankfurt, L’Equipe reports. They began Serie A under new coach Domenico Tedesco with a 1-0 home defeat to Lazio on Monday.

Meanwhile, Sky Sport Italia claims Bologna have asked Fiorentina about Icelandic forward Albert Gudmundsson, who has struggled since moving to the Stadio Franchi. The club are seeking reinforcements before the transfer deadline after some disastrous pre-season friendlies.

Theate previously played for Bologna in 2021-22. The Belgium international was sold to Stade Rennes for €19m that summer, then moved to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025.

If Gudmundsson arrived at the Stadio Dall’Ara, Bologna could in turn sell Jonathan Rowe to Atalanta. That scenario remains conditional on incoming business.

It had already been reported that Atalanta made a second offer for Rowe worth €35m plus add-ons, yet Bologna were unwilling to sanction a sale after moving Santiago Castro to Roma.
